Prabowo Returns from France with Rp61.25 Trillion Deal
President Prabowo Subianto has returned to Indonesia following a state visit to France, securing strategic achievements including new commercial agreements worth $3.5 billion (approximately Rp61.25 trillion).
The presidential aircraft landed at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Saturday, 30 May 2026, at 9:50 AM WIB. Upon arrival, President Prabowo was greeted by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Deputy Armed Forces Commander Lieutenant General Tandyo Budi Revita.
The state visit marked a significant milestone in strengthening the strategic partnership between Indonesia and France, particularly in investment, trade, energy, and defence.
A key agenda was the launch of the France-Indonesia High-Level Business Council, bringing together business leaders and industry players from both nations. The high-level business forum resulted in four new commercial agreements totalling $3.5 billion, spanning energy security, trade, and defence cooperation.
Investment and Downstreaming Minister/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani described the establishment of the business council as a pivotal step in deepening economic ties between the two countries.
“This forum is not only a platform for dialogue between businesses but also a driving force to promote investment, trade, and strategic cooperation that delivers tangible benefits for both nations,” Roeslani stated in a written release.
The inauguration of the France-Indonesia High-Level Business Council took place on 28 May 2026, witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The forum gathered 30 leading business executives and industry players from Indonesia and France, with a combined market capitalisation of $1.3 trillion. The council is co-chaired by Danone CEO and MEDEF International France-Indonesia Business Council Chair Antoine de Saint-Affrique, and KADIN Indonesia Chairman Anindya Bakrie.
According to Roeslani, the agreements reflect increased French business confidence in Indonesia’s economic prospects.
“The deals demonstrate that Indonesia is viewed as a strategic partner with long-term growth potential and a more competitive investment climate,” he said.
Beyond official state duties, President Prabowo met with the Indonesian diaspora in Paris and attended Eid al-Adha prayers with Indonesians living in France. His presence among the diaspora symbolises the government’s closeness to overseas citizens and strengthens people-to-people ties between the two nations.
Looking ahead, the Indonesia-France Business Council aims to triple bilateral trade value by 2035. With support from both governments, KADIN Indonesia and MEDEF International are committed to expanding economic collaboration and opening new investment opportunities in strategic sectors.
