President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, returned home after concluding a state visit to France that yielded several strategic achievements for Indonesia. The aircraft carrying the Head of State landed at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Saturday, 30 May 2026, at 09:50 WIB.

Upon arrival in Indonesia, President Prabowo was greeted by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces Tandyo Budi Revita.

The state visit represented a key step by the government to strengthen Indonesia’s international standing. In addition to discussing strategic issues with the French government, the trip resulted in significant agreements expected to positively impact the national economy.

A key achievement was the launch of the France-Indonesia High Level Business Council, a high-level business forum bringing together corporate leaders and industry players from both countries. The forum serves as a strategic platform to bolster economic, investment, trade, and defence cooperation between Indonesia and France.

This historic momentum yielded four new commercial agreements worth $3.5 billion, or approximately Rp61.25 trillion, covering energy security, trade, and defence cooperation sectors, which are deemed crucial for supporting Indonesia’s national development agenda.

Investment and Hilirisasi Minister/BKPM Chief Rosan Roeslani welcomed the establishment of the business council, stating it marks a new milestone in strengthening Indonesia-France economic partnerships and opening up broader, sustainable investment opportunities.

‘This forum is not only a platform for business dialogue but also a driving force to promote investment, trade, and strategic cooperation that delivers tangible benefits for both nations,’ Roeslani said.

The council’s inauguration on 28 May 2026 was attended by President Prabowo and French President Emmanuel Macron. The forum brought together 30 leading company executives from both nations, with a combined market capitalisation of $1.3 trillion.

The council is co-chaired by Danone CEO and MEDEF International France-Indonesia Business Council Chair Antoine de Saint-Affrique, alongside Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Bakrie.

Roeslani emphasised that the agreements reflect growing French business confidence in Indonesia, noting the country is increasingly seen as a strategic partner with promising long-term economic growth prospects and a more competitive investment climate.

Beyond diplomatic and economic agendas, President Prabowo also met with the Indonesian diaspora in Paris, where he shared greetings and performed Eid al-Adha prayers with fellow Indonesians in France.

The President’s presence among the diaspora symbolised the government’s closeness to Indonesians abroad and reinforced ties between the two nations’ communities.

Looking ahead, the Indonesia-France Business Council aims to triple bilateral trade value by 2035. With full support from both governments, Kadin Indonesia and MEDEF International are committed to creating new partnership opportunities and strengthening economic collaboration across strategic sectors.

President Prabowo’s return from France marked the conclusion of a state visit that not only strengthened diplomatic ties but also brought Rp tens of trillions in investment opportunities for Indonesia. This move forms part of the government’s efforts to expand global partnerships to drive national economic growth and enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness on the world stage.
