Prabowo Reports to Workers: Marsinah Becomes National Hero and Ratifies Domestic Workers Protection Law
President Prabowo Subianto assured that the policies taken during his administration have protected all Indonesian people, especially workers. He conveyed this during the peak of the International Labour Day commemoration at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026).
On that occasion, the head of state also outlined several policies he has implemented related to the workers’ struggle. The first is elevating Marsinah to national hero status.
“And this month, I will also go to Nglundo Village, Nganjuk, East Java, to inaugurate the workers’ struggle museum named the Marsinah Museum,” said Prabowo.
Second, Prabowo reported that he has ratified the Domestic Workers Protection Law. According to the head of state, the process of forming the UU PPRT took 22 years.
“Even since the republic was founded, there has never been a UU PPRT. Until now, domestic workers have been paid unclear wages. Now, for the first time in the history of the Republic of Indonesia, we have ratified the UU PPRT,” stated Prabowo.
