Prabowo Reportedly to Visit Russia, Bahlil Hints at Rosneft Investment in Tuban Refinery
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto is reportedly scheduled to undertake a working visit to Russia to meet President Vladimir Putin in the near future.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the meeting could discuss cooperation in the energy sector. One potential topic is the continuation of investment by Rosneft Oil Company in the Grass Root Refinery project, or Tuban Refinery.
“Oh, that is a cooperation between Russian companies. Rosneft is building a refinery in Tuban with Pertamina. Well, that might be one thing we can follow up on. But that’s B2B, right,” Bahlil said at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta, on Friday (10/4/2026).
When asked about the possibility of importing crude oil from Russia, Bahlil did not give a firm answer. He emphasised that Indonesia is open to energy supplies from various countries.
“We can get it from any country, as long as it’s available,” Bahlil said at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta, on Monday (6/4/2026).
Previously, the Russian news agency TASS reported the planned meeting between Putin and Prabowo. The Russian government is said to be preparing the agenda for talks between the two leaders.
“I can confirm that preparations for such communication are indeed underway. We are preparing the talks. We will announce it in due time,” said Peskov.
