JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to combating corruption and strengthening national food and energy self-sufficiency.

Prabowo renewed his call for all parties to wage war against corruption during the hybrid inauguration of 218 bridges across various regions of Indonesia via video conference from his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Monday (9 March 2026).

“Our strength, our extraordinary wealth, must be better managed and controlled by us. For this reason, I reaffirm that we must fight corruption at every level,” Prabowo stated on Monday.

He noted that corruption has the potential to reduce the state’s capacity to face various challenges, including disasters and global crises.

“Corruption, abuse of authority, fraud, and collusion with unscrupulous businessmen — these are what cause state leakage, these are what result in much of our wealth being lost, wealth that we could use to face any disaster,” he said.

Beyond corruption eradication, Prabowo emphasised that Indonesia must strengthen its capacity for self-reliance.

“I have seen and studied the figures and data of our wealth. Every day we will emerge stronger, we will exit this crisis in a stronger, more prosperous, more productive condition, more capable of standing on our own feet,” Prabowo added.
