Prabowo Reminds TNI-Polri Officers: Your Salary Comes from the People, Serve Them with Loyalty

Jakarta, VIVA – President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has reminded TNI and Polri officers to always prioritise service to the Indonesian people and never place any interest above that of the public.

He delivered the message while presiding over the Prasetya Perwira (Praspa) ceremony for TNI and Polri officers at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.

On that occasion, Prabowo said that TNI and Polri officers must always put the people’s interests first, as they are the bearers of the hopes of all Indonesians.

For that reason, Prabowo reminded those present that when an officer betrays the people’s interests, at that very moment he has also forfeited his honour as a protector of the nation. He asked the officers to hold that trust firmly, because the cost of their education and even their salaries come from the contributions of society.

“Always remember, you were born from the people, educated with the people’s money, the clothes you wear from head to toe come from the people, your food comes from the people, your salary comes from the people. Serve the people always, be their protector, guardian and defender,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo continued that the people in truth never demand perfection from TNI and Polri officers. Nevertheless, he emphasised that officers must excel in character, discipline, leadership, and mastery of science and technology in order to protect and safeguard the interests of the Indonesian nation in the future.

“The people do not demand that you be perfect. The people demand that you be honest, that you be brave, that you be fair, and that you appear and are present when needed. Remember, rank is merely a trust placed in your hands,” he explained.

According to Prabowo, the public’s trust is a mandate that every TNI and Polri officer must uphold. He therefore asked all officers to carry out their duties with full integrity and not to disappoint the people’s expectations.

“Today, the Indonesian people entrust the nation’s future to your shoulders. Never betray this trust, fight with courage, lead by example, lead from the front, serve and dedicate yourselves sincerely and wholeheartedly,” he concluded.
