Prabowo Reminds Police: The People Still Suffer Poverty Due to Corruption

President Prabowo Subianto has urged the Indonesian National Police (Polri) not to be complacent, warning that future challenges will become increasingly difficult. He delivered this message during his address at the 80th Bhayangkara Day ceremony at the Brimob Polri Training Centre in Cikeas, Gunung Putri, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (1/7). Prabowo stated that the world is currently filled with conflict and tension in various corners. He noted that ongoing wars will inevitably impact Indonesia. “Crime is becoming more sophisticated and constantly changing, threats are evolving. Technology can also be used with malicious intent, therefore our working methods must also adapt,” he said. He reminded that crimes such as narcotics and online gambling remain threats that harm the nation. Additionally, cases of human trafficking, terrorism, corruption, illegal smuggling, and white-collar crime must continue to be eradicated. On the occasion, Prabowo appreciated the Police’s efforts in uncovering thousands of narcotics and online gambling cases, as well as successfully maintaining zero terrorist incidents over the past few years. Nevertheless, he cautioned against complacency. Prabowo stressed that the challenges ahead remain significant and must be overcome by the Police. “Our people are still suffering from poverty, and this poverty is a direct result of corruption, smuggling, and illegal economic activities. Therefore, your challenge, our collective challenge, remains great and many,” he asserted.
