Prabowo Reminds Civil Servants to Work Seriously: No One Is Irreplaceable
President Prabowo Subianto of the Republic of Indonesia warned all Aparatur Sipil Negara (ASN) – civil servants – to work properly and correctly.
‘There is no one who cannot be replaced; the people demand a government that is right and good, don’t assume that just because you are an ASN you cannot be dismissed,’ Prabowo said at the DPR plenary session, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 20 May.
He also instructed all ministers in the Red-and-White Cabinet to fix the bureaucracy in their ministries.
Prabowo asked his ministers to beware of the ‘tricks’ of bureaucrats in ministries/agencies who seek loopholes for personal gain.
‘Let me remind all ministers to discipline their bureaucracy downwards. Be wary of those bureaucrats because their experience is long,’ he said.
Prabowo joked that such bureaucrats usually ask for signature of approval just before closing time. He noted that at those hours, officials are tired and less alert.
Prabowo also stated that all institutions must make improvements.
‘And we should not have too many initiatives; there is a presidential order, a ministerial order, and below, create again. We re-process it, ministerial regulations, technical regulations, recommendations,’ he said.
