Prabowo Regrets His Ministers Fainting and Suffering Heart Problems Due to Excessive Control
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has admitted to feeling regretful because several of his ministers and officials in his government have suffered illnesses and even fainted in public. According to Prabowo, his aides have health problems due to his leadership style, which tends towards micromanagement or excessive control and supervision. “Now, I feel a bit regretful, because some of my ministers have fainted in public. And sometimes I receive reports that some of my senior officials are in hospital. Why? Heart problems,” said Prabowo at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo on Monday (30/3/2026). “So I feel guilty. Because maybe that’s because their superior is too controlling,” he added. According to him, he does this because he wants to be a leader who gets directly involved on the ground. However, he also apologised for his overly micromanaging nature while serving as President. “Yes, I admit I am a manager who is too controlling. I would call my ministers at two in the morning or five in the morning, and I would ask about the price of eggs today,” Prabowo further remarked. Initially, Trenggono acted as the inspector of the ceremony for the interment of three bodies, namely the aircraft pilot Capt Andy Dahananto and two employees from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Ferry Irawan and Yoga Naufal. However, in the midst of the ceremony, he suddenly fell with his head hitting the floor. He fainted right after the procession of handing over the bodies from the family to be buried with state honours. Deputy Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Didit Herdiawan said Trenggono fainted due to exhaustion.
