President Prabowo Subianto has revealed that he has been subjected to several attempts to bribe him during the last two years of his administration. This statement was made by Prabowo while addressing the state of national institutions, which he claims have been undermined for decades.

“We understand that our country is in a state that is not doing well. We understand that. We see that for decades, our institutions have been undermined,” said Prabowo at the Attorney General’s Office building, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (6/10/2026).

Prabowo subsequently highlighted bribery practices that he claims target government officials, ranging from ministers to directors-general. He even noted that there were attempts to bribe him personally.

“Our ministers, our directors-general, they are being targeted for bribes. Forget the ministers, even I have been targeted; in these two years, I have been approached with bribes multiple times,” he stated.

He noted that the government continues to strive to improve this situation through a persuasive approach. Prabowo expressed confidence that his ministers are aware of his firm stance.

“I understand, we see it and we are trying to fix it. We are trying to improve it through persuasion, through preaching—preaching the truth, preaching nationalism, through dialogue, and by being convincing,” said Prabowo.

“Wherever I am invited, you surely know what my message is. The ministers who attend meetings with me know my stance, my determination, and my will,” he added.
