Prabowo Receives Turkish Foreign Minister in Hambalang to Discuss Regional Stability

President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan, at his residence in Hambalang, West Java, on Wednesday (3/6/2026). Minister Fidan’s visit to Indonesia was conducted at the invitation of President Prabowo.

According to official statements, the presence of the Turkish Foreign Minister is part of the efforts of both nations to continuously strengthen communication and coordination amidst various current regional and global dynamics. During the meeting, President Prabowo expressed specific appreciation to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish Government for their close support and cooperation in the process of repatriating nine Indonesian citizens (WNI) involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 humanitarian mission.

‘The Head of State considers Türkiye’s support in this humanitarian mission to reflect the strong friendly relations between the two countries, while also demonstrating a shared commitment to upholding humanitarian values and international solidarity,’ the official statement noted.

During the meeting, both parties also exchanged views on the latest developments in the Middle East. The discussions covered various regional dynamics that are currently drawing global attention, particularly the conditions in Iran and Palestine.

As fellow members of the Global South, Indonesia and Türkiye share aligned views on the importance of maintaining regional stability through dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful resolution. Furthermore, both sides agreed to continue strengthening coordination to encourage de-escalation efforts in various conflicts occurring in the Middle East. Additionally, Indonesia and Türkiye reaffirmed their shared commitment to continue fighting for justice for the Palestinian people.
