Prabowo Receives Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Hambalang to Discuss Bilateral Relations
President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from the Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, at his residence in Hambalang, West Java, on Wednesday. The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, reflecting the long-standing friendship and strategic partnership between Indonesia and Türkiye.
Hakan Fidan’s visit to Indonesia was conducted upon the direct invitation of President Prabowo. The agenda serves as part of the commitment of both nations to continuously strengthen communication and coordination amidst the increasingly dynamic regional and global situations.
According to a press release from the BPMI Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo expressed his appreciation to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish government for their support and cooperation in the repatriation of nine Indonesian citizens involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 humanitarian mission. Prabowo noted that Türkiye’s assistance in this mission serves as strong evidence of the robust relationship between the two nations and reflects a shared commitment to upholding humanitarian values and international solidarity.
In addition to discussing bilateral cooperation, both parties exchanged views on recent developments in the Middle East. The discussions covered several regional issues of global concern, particularly the evolving situations in Iran and Palestine. As members of the Global South, Indonesia and Türkiye share similar perspectives on the importance of maintaining regional stability through dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful conflict resolution. Both nations agreed to continue increasing coordination to support de-escalation efforts in various Middle Eastern conflicts and reaffirmed their shared commitment to fighting for justice for the Palestinian people.
