Prabowo Receives Thai PM Visit to Discuss Investment Strengthening

President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday (3/8/2026). The bilateral meeting focused on strengthening investment and economic cooperation between the two countries. During the meeting, Anutin conveyed the high level of confidence Thai investors have in Indonesia’s business climate. He specifically highlighted the corporate action of Bangkok Bank, which expanded its operations by acquiring a national bank in Indonesia. “We have very high confidence in your country and every investor who comes to do business in Indonesia is very happy,” Anutin said. He requested the Indonesian government’s continued support to ensure fair treatment and ease of doing business for Thai companies, promising reciprocity. Anutin also praised the success of Indonesian investment in Thailand’s aviation sector, citing Lion Air as an excellent success story. He encouraged both nations to focus on increasing value chain connectivity and building the combined economic strength of their populations, which total over 350 million people. Regarding regional trade, Anutin noted Indonesia’s position as Thailand’s fourth-largest trading partner in ASEAN and expressed a belief that it should be the first, urging greater efforts to increase bilateral trade volume.
