Prabowo Receives Report on TNI Programmes Supporting National Development

President Prabowo Subianto received a progress report on various strategic programmes run by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) that support equitable development and the improvement of public welfare during a meeting with TNI leadership at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday. The President was accompanied by Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. The TNI was represented by Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Deputy Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita, Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, and Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono. During the meeting, the TNI Commander and the service chiefs reported on the achievements of several strategic programmes, including those directly supporting development across various regions. One of the reported programmes involves the construction of 2,500 village bridges, which is targeted for completion by August 2026. The TNI also reported on the progress of building nearly 3,000 clean water points in various parts of Indonesia. The TNI leadership further conveyed developments in the rural electrification programme, particularly in the outermost regions, which continues throughout this year to expand public access to basic needs. In addition to discussing infrastructure development, the meeting highlighted the implementation of the TNI Social Service programme, which will be held simultaneously across Indonesia to enliven the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence. The meeting also discussed TNI support for various government priority programmes. President Prabowo specifically directed that for the 81st Independence Day commemoration, the TNI should present something special for the public as a manifestation of the spirit of independence and service to the nation. Through these various programmes, the TNI is expected to continue strengthening its role, not only as the front line in safeguarding state sovereignty, but also as a strategic partner to the government in accelerating equitable development, expanding public access to basic needs, and strengthening the unity between the TNI and the people.
