President Prabowo Subianto recounts that he received a report from the Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), Yusuf Ateh, regarding alleged misconduct by a close associate.

Prabowo stated that Yusuf Ateh appeared visibly nervous when delivering the report.

He shared this during the inauguration of the Marsinah Museum and a shelter in Nganjuk, East Java, on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

“The Head of the BPKP came to see me, and I was surprised by how stressed he seemed. He explained that the report concerned individuals close to me, and he sought guidance on whether to proceed with the investigation, given their connection to the President,” Prabowo said.

The President affirmed that no one is above the law in Indonesia, including those close to him. Prabowo then instructed Ateh to continue the investigation.

“Continue the investigation. There will be no exceptions. Whether they are close to Prabowo or not, if there are indications of wrongdoing, investigate them,” he stated.

He added that if someone is entrusted with a position of power, they must fulfill their responsibilities diligently.

“If you are given the honor of holding office, you must be even more careful and vigilant. It is not an opportunity to abuse power or believe that the state is easily manipulated,” he said.

Furthermore, Prabowo emphasized that no state official should feel entitled or believe they can do whatever they want to achieve their goals.

“Even within my own party, Gerindra, many individuals have been investigated and detained. There is no protection. In fact, we must set an example. Whether they are generals or former generals, they must demonstrate that they can conclude their careers with integrity. If they were skilled in warfare, now they must prove to the people that they can serve with honor,” Prabowo said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Marsinah Museum and a shelter in Nglundo Village, Sukomoro District, Nganjuk Regency, East Java, on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The inauguration serves as a tribute from the state to Marsinah’s struggle for human rights and workers’ rights, and it reaffirms the government’s commitment to supporting the labor movement in Indonesia.
