Prabowo receives Ray Dalio, helps invite foreign investors to the country
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that President Prabowo Subianto received global investor Ray Dalio at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, in a meeting that discussed efforts to encourage foreign investors to enter Indonesia. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, who accompanied President Prabowo in the meeting, said Ray Dalio will help promote Indonesia abroad and bring several proposals to attract investor interest. “Earlier, I accompanied the President in receiving Mr Ray Dalio. He is helping us, promoting us abroad as well, and there are some inputs on several projects that can make our economy move faster,” said Purbaya after the meeting at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Friday. Purbaya said the proposals will be followed up immediately so that the proposed projects can be realised soon. Purbaya also highlighted that if there are projects running slowly, his side will address the obstacles to speed up completion in a short time. In the meeting, there were several inputs regarding projects deemed capable of driving national economic movement faster, including projects in the energy sector and special economic zones. “From what I heard earlier, energy, then there is an economic zone, and some other initiatives,” he said. In the energy sector, Purbaya mentioned that the discussed project is indicated to be related to the development of solar power plants (PLTS). “It seems related to PLTS, something like that. But I need to study the details again,” he said. Purbaya also revealed a project involving investors from Singapore and domestically that is being pushed to be accelerated. However, he said, the details of the project have not been conveyed in detail. In the discussion on economic zones, Purbaya said there are plans to add one special economic zone (KEK) to increase investment attractiveness. “I don’t understand the details. But like this, there will be one additional special economic zone to attract investors to enter, something like that. Ask the Coordinating Minister for the Economy later,” he said. Besides Purbaya, the meeting between President Prabowo and Ray Dalio was also attended by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani, and Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto.
