Prabowo Receives Qatari Foreign Minister, Discusses USD 4 Billion Investment Commitment
President Prabowo Subianto received a courtesy call from Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, 15 June 2026. The meeting discussed strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Qatar, including investment cooperation and preparations for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that during the meeting, the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs conveyed warm greetings and appreciation from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to President Prabowo. “The Emir of Qatar also expressed appreciation for President Prabowo’s leadership and Indonesia’s economic progress, particularly support for health, education, and nutritious meal programmes,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy in a written statement on Monday.
The meeting also discussed plans for the Emir of Qatar’s visit to Indonesia at the end of 2026. The visit is expected to be an important milestone in commemorating 50 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Qatar. “The planned visit of the Emir of Qatar to Indonesia at the end of 2026 will be an important moment marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Qatar,” the Cabinet Secretary continued.
During the meeting, Qatar also reaffirmed its commitment to continue strengthening investment in Indonesia. The Qatari government conveyed an investment commitment worth USD 4 billion, as well as opening opportunities for expanding investment in various other strategic sectors. This commitment reflects Qatar’s confidence in Indonesia’s economic prospects while being part of both countries’ efforts to expand a mutually beneficial partnership. This investment cooperation is expected to support the national development agenda, strengthen strategic sectors, and provide tangible benefits for the people of both countries.
President Prabowo’s meeting with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs underscored the close and growing relationship between Indonesia and Qatar, not only in the diplomatic field but also in the economy, investment, and development cooperation.
