Prabowo Receives Phone Call from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas

President Prabowo Subianto received a phone call from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Jakarta on Monday evening, 15 June 2026. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that President Abbas provided an explanation of the current situation in Palestine. President Abbas, Teddy said, expressed hope that Indonesia would continue to take an active role in supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people amidst current global dynamics. “President Mahmoud Abbas also expressed his hope that Indonesia will continue to play an active role in supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people,” Teddy said in a written statement. Teddy noted that Abbas also conveyed his appreciation for Indonesia’s support for the Palestinian people. “President Mahmoud Abbas conveyed the latest developments in Palestine and expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s consistent tangible support for the Palestinian people,” Teddy stated. Abbas, according to Teddy, assessed that Indonesia’s voice and leadership under President Prabowo carry significant weight and receive broad attention in various international forums. “President Prabowo has long been known for consistently providing tangible support to Palestine, including since his tenure as Minister of Defence,” he said. According to Teddy, this support has been realised through the dispatch of logistics by air and sea, the deployment of hospital ships and medical personnel, the enrolment of 100 Palestinian children to study at the Defence University, and Indonesia’s stance in various global forums. President Prabowo had previously raised the two-state solution for Palestine and Israel during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, France, on Thursday, 28 May 2029. “Indonesia maintains the view that peace in the Middle East is impossible without a two-state solution, without justice for the Palestinian people,” Prabowo said in a joint press statement with Macron during a state visit at the Élysée Palace on Thursday, 28 May 2026, as cited by the Presidential Secretariat on Friday, 29 May 2026.
