Prabowo Receives Old Friend Australian Defence Minister at Kertanegara

President Prabowo Subianto received Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Donald Marles at his private residence on Kertanegara IV Street, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (11 March 2026) evening WIB. Prabowo was accompanied by Defence Minister Sjafrie at the meeting.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that the meeting served as a gathering between two long-standing friends. Both Prabowo and Marles now hold strategic positions in their respective governments.

“President Prabowo Subianto received his old friend who is also Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles,” said Teddy in a press statement.

According to him, the meeting took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere. The two leaders took the opportunity to have casual discussions and exchange views on several important issues of mutual concern.

“The meeting was warm and full of familiarity, affirming the close personal relationship between the two leaders,” Teddy said.
