Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto received the 5th President of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday afternoon, attended by House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani and Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

Based on a post from President Prabowo’s official Instagram account (@prabowo), the meeting was held to continue rapport-building among the nation’s leaders.

“On the 29th day of Ramadan ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, I received the 5th President of Indonesia, Ibu Hj. Megawati Soekarnoputri, at Merdeka Palace. This meeting continues the rapport among the nation’s leaders,” read the post.

In the uploaded photos, Megawati is seen wearing blue-themed batik. Prabowo personally welcomed Megawati’s arrival at the outer porch of Merdeka Palace. The President appeared to guide Megawati while walking into the inner area of the Palace.

In another photo, Prabowo and Megawati sat on the same sofa in one of Merdeka Palace’s rooms, with Dasco and Puan also seated nearby to accompany them. The meeting took place in a warm and familial atmosphere.

The meeting also featured President Prabowo’s son, Ragowo Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo (Didit), and Foreign Minister Sugiono.

It is known that President Prabowo had invited several national leaders to Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (3/3).

That inter-leadership rapport meeting was also attended by the 6th President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the 7th President of Indonesia Joko Widodo, the 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla, the 11th Vice President of Indonesia Boediono, and the 13th Vice President of Indonesia Ma’ruf Amin.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the forum would discuss various strategic issues, both in the national and global contexts.

The President, according to the Cabinet Secretary, wishes to directly absorb views, experiences, and input from these national figures to enrich perspectives and strengthen the direction of future government policies.
