Prabowo Receives Letter Proposing Kuntadi as Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto has received a letter from the Attorney General proposing the Head of the Asset Recovery Agency, Kuntadi, to become the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus). Prasetyo stated that the letter listed Kuntadi as the candidate to replace Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah, who was dismissed due to corruption allegations.
“Based on the letter, yes (Kuntadi),” he said after a meeting with Commission XIII of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.
Additionally, the letter from Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin also contained several names proposed for high-ranking positions within the Attorney General’s Office, such as the Deputy Attorney General. Prasetyo claimed he could not recall all the names proposed by Sanitiar.
He asked the public to be patient as the government will follow up on the proposal from the letter sent on Tuesday, 14 July 2026. The proposal needs to be processed by the final assessment team. “We ask for time to process it because there is a mechanism known as TPA, the final assessment team,” said the Gerindra Party politician.
Prasetyo stated that the government will prioritise the assessment process so that it can be announced to the public soon through a presidential decree. He predicted the process could be completed within the week. “In due course, when the results have been decided, we will certainly convey them to our media colleagues and the public,” he said.
A senior official at the Attorney General’s Office who is aware of the letter confirmed the existence of the proposal. “Yes, the letter exists. I found out about it last night,” he told Tempo on Tuesday, 14 July 2026. He said he became aware of the proposal after the letter was sent to the president. The official noted that the names could still change, depending on the president’s team’s assessment.
In the Attorney General’s letter, which was copied to the Cabinet Secretary on 13 July 2026 and received by Tempo, several names were proposed to fill high-ranking positions. The Junior Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum) and Acting Deputy Attorney General Asep Nana Mulyana was proposed to become the definitive Deputy Attorney General. Subsequently, the Head of the Education and Training Agency, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak, was proposed to become Jampidum, replacing Asep.
To replace Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak, the Attorney General proposed Inspector III at the Junior Attorney General for Supervision, Harli Siregar. Burhanuddin also proposed the Head of the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, Patris Yusrian Jaya, as the Head of the Asset Recovery Agency to replace Kuntadi.
