Prabowo Receives Intelligence Reports on Government Critics
President Prabowo Subianto stated that he regularly receives intelligence reports regarding observers and critics who are dissatisfied with his government. Prabowo claimed that these critics are funded by parties opposed to the administration.
Speaking during a Red and White Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026, Prabowo said he receives intelligence reports daily since becoming president. “When I was outside government before, now I am the president. So every day I receive intelligence reports,” he stated.
According to intelligence information, Prabowo claimed to know who finances government critics. “So I understand, I already know who funds them,” said the General Chairman of Gerindra Party.
Prabowo indicated that he is currently attempting to address the parties financing critics through persuasive methods and by convincing them. However, the former general said there will come a time when he will take disciplinary action against such behaviour. “In due course we will discipline all of that,” he remarked.
According to Prabowo, he is currently attempting to convince the public through evidence-based approaches. He is confident that citizens can understand government policies with clear evidence.
Prabowo expressed puzzlement at observers who consistently denigrate the government. “So some observers in my view are motivated to create public anxiety, I also do not understand their thinking because we are one nation,” he said.
Prabowo likened Indonesia to a large ship. If the ship lists, then all passengers will be affected. He said all parties should unite and work together to save the large ship, particularly after post-election political competition has ended.
President Prabowo has repeatedly accused his critics of receiving financial benefits from evaluating the government. On 12 January 2026, for instance, Prabowo referred to a small group of people who often ridicule him and spread negative views about his administration. He suspected these people were paid by foreign powers.
Prabowo made these remarks whilst attending the inauguration of 166 community schools in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan Province. He initially expressed gratitude that Indonesia was in good condition. However, Prabowo said, the world is turbulent and full of uncertainty.
According to him, Indonesia possesses great natural resource wealth, but it has been managed poorly for decades. For Prabowo, fixing this is not easy.
“Many people mock me, I know. Actually, not many, just a few people. Perhaps they have money and means, they can spread cynicism, pessimism, and very likely they are paid by foreign powers, that is my belief, my conviction,” Prabowo said, as broadcast live via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Monday, 12 January 2026.
