Prabowo Receives Former Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra, Here's What Was Discussed
President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his family. The meeting was posted on the Cabinet Secretariat’s Instagram account on Wednesday evening. Thaksin’s daughter, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who also served as Thailand’s Prime Minister from 2024 to 2025, was present. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the meeting was a moment to strengthen their friendship. The two exchanged views on regional and global issues. ‘The warm and cordial meeting served as a momentum to strengthen a long-standing friendship,’ Teddy wrote. Thaksin, who led Thailand from 2001 to 2006, now contributes to Indonesia as a member of the Danantara Advisory Board. Teddy emphasised that President Prabowo always maintains open communication with world leaders as part of efforts to expand cooperation and Indonesia’s global standing. ‘Through meetings like this, the Indonesian Government continues to strengthen networks of friendship and communication with leaders and figures from around the world as part of efforts to broaden cooperation and reinforce Indonesia’s position amidst global dynamics,’ Teddy said.
