Prabowo Receives Dasco at the Presidential Palace
President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. The two met at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, 16 April 2026.
Dasco revealed the meeting through a post on his personal Instagram social media account. “Received by President Prabowo Subianto to convey several developments in the national political, security, and economic situation as well as to report some inputs from the DPR’s legislative function to the government,” Dasco stated in the caption.
Dasco uploaded two photos of the meeting moments. In the first photo, these two Gerindra Party officials appeared to be speaking one-on-one at Merdeka Palace. Meanwhile, in the second photo, other officials from Gerindra, namely State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi and Foreign Minister Sugiono, were seen attending the meeting.
Dasco’s visit to the Presidential Palace took place upon President Prabowo’s return from a series of overseas visits. Prabowo had just completed his official trip to Russia and France on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
During the official trip from Monday to Wednesday, 13-15 April 2026, the Gerindra Party Chairman met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that Prabowo agreed to cooperation with the two leaders. “President Prabowo brought home souvenirs in the form of various strategic agreements,” Teddy said in his statement after Prabowo’s return.
Teddy mentioned that Prabowo’s meeting with Putin in Moscow reaffirmed the enhancement of cooperation related to long-term national energy supplies. This included crude oil reserves and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
After Russia, Prabowo travelled to Paris, France. “In Paris, President Prabowo met with President Emmanuel Macron to discuss enhancing cooperation in energy, education, digital communication, and of course long-term economic investment,” Teddy said.
With Macron, Prabowo discussed issues of strengthening bilateral cooperation in several sectors, including the procurement of defence equipment and strengthening the defence industry. In addition, the two leaders also discussed energy transition and the development of new renewable energy, infrastructure and transportation, up to education and the creative economy.
Teddy claimed that Prabowo’s visit to Russia and France bore sweet fruit. “A short two-day visit to two superpower countries, UN veto holders and the world’s largest resource producers, with big and concrete results for Indonesia,” he said.
