Prabowo Receives Chelsea Jersey from Club Owner During Meeting with US Business Leaders in Washington
President Prabowo Subianto received 12 American business leaders at a meeting held in Washington DC. During one notable moment, Prabowo was presented with a jersey from English Premier League club Chelsea by the club’s owner.
The meeting with the 12 US business figures took place on Friday (20 February) local time. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the attendees included Todd L Boehly, CEO of Eldridge Industries and owner of both Chelsea FC and basketball franchise the LA Lakers, as well as Armen Panossian, CEO of Oaktree and owner of Italian club Inter Milan.
“This afternoon, President Prabowo received 12 of America’s largest business figures in Washington DC on 20 February 2026. These business leaders have previously collaborated with Danantara Indonesia as the largest holder of state-owned enterprise assets,” Teddy said.
In one photograph released by the Presidential Palace, Prabowo was pictured alongside Todd L Boehly and Danantara BPI CEO Rosan Roeslani, holding a signed Chelsea jersey bearing the number 24 of Reece James.
In addition to the owners of Chelsea and Inter Milan, the meeting was attended by Matt Harris of BlackRock Founding Partners and Global Infrastructure Partners; Martin Escobari, Co-President and Head of Global Growth Equity at General Atlantic; Al Rabil, CEO of Kayne Anderson; and Neil R. Brown, Managing Director of the Global Institute Infrastructure at KKR.
Also present were Michael Weinberg, Chairperson of the Investment Committee at Levine Leichtman Capital Partners (LLCP); Justin Metz, Managing Partner at Related Fund Management (RFM); Luke Taylor, Co-President of Stonepeak; Nabil Mallick, COO of Thrive Capital; Jeffrey Perlman, CEO of Warburg Pincus; and Seth Bernstein of Bernstein Equity Partners.
Teddy explained that during the meeting, Prabowo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating a conducive investment climate and opening space for mutually beneficial collaboration.
“President Prabowo is opening the widest possible investment opportunities to build as many economic supply chains and employment opportunities as possible that benefit domestic interests in Indonesia,” he added.
