Prabowo Receives Belarusian President Lukashenko with State Ceremony
President Prabowo Subianto received a state visit from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. Lukashenko’s arrival was marked by a formal state ceremony.
At the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (2/7/2026), the welcoming ceremony commenced at approximately 11:25 WIB. The welcoming procession began as President Lukashenko’s delegation entered the gates of the Merdeka Palace.
The vehicle carrying Lukashenko was escorted by a cavalry troop and motorcycle escorts. An honour guard lined the path from the palace gates to the pillars of the Merdeka Palace. A group of students also participated in the celebration, waving the flags of Indonesia and Belarus.
President Lukashenko was also greeted with the Enggang Dance from East Kalimantan. This traditional dance from the Dayak Kenyah tribe served as a symbol of respect for the visiting dignitary.
Upon arriving at the palace courtyard, Lukashenko was personally greeted by Prabowo. The two leaders shared a handshake and a warm embrace.
Subsequently, Prabowo and Lukashenko proceeded to the ceremony podium on the terrace of the Merdeka Palace. The ceremony began with the playing of the Belarusian national anthem, followed by the Indonesian national anthem.
Following the ceremony, both heads of state inspected the honour guard while walking around the palace grounds. Standing before the flags of both nations, Prabowo and Lukashenko paused briefly to pay their respects.
Afterwards, both leaders greeted the students lined up along the palace courtyard before returning to the terrace to introduce their respective national delegations.
The welcoming proceedings continued with Lukashenko signing the guest book in the Credentials Room of the Merdeka Palace.
Following this, Prabowo and Lukashenko held a private tete-a-tete meeting, which was followed by a bilateral meeting involving the delegations of both countries.
Lukashenko’s visit to Indonesia serves as a return visit following Prabowo’s trip to Belarus on 15 July 2025. This marks Lukashenko’s second visit to Indonesia since 2013.
The Indonesian delegation accompanying Prabowo to welcome Lukashenko included the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Investment Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Prabowo’s Personal Aide Rizky Irmansyah.
