President Prabowo Subianto recently shared his experience riding the Maung national vehicle made by PT Pindad, noting it once leaked and had a ‘rattling’ ride when traversing mountains. “One time, I like to sleep in the car. It was raining hard outside, I was sleeping, then suddenly ‘tek tek tek’ (water leaking), I woke up. Apparently, it was leaking. Since it was new, I sent it back. I said, ‘Pindad, please reduce the leaks,’” Prabowo revealed while opening the XVIII HIPMI National Conference in Lampung some time ago. Besides the leak, Prabowo also felt a significant ‘rattling’ when the vehicle went over rocky roads in the mountains. Despite these shortcomings, Prabowo continued to use the vehicle. “After that, I used the car to go up the mountain, it rattled. But rattling is fine, for the sake of nationalism I still use this car,” Prabowo asserted.

In response, PT Pindad via its official Instagram account @pt_pindad expressed deep appreciation and respect for President Prabowo’s trust in developing and using the MV3 Garuda Limousine as the presidential vehicle. “This trust is a source of pride as well as a mandate for all PT Pindad employees to continue delivering quality products that meet user needs,” the company stated. Regarding the leak on the Garuda Limousine, PT Pindad explained that the condition occurred during the vehicle’s early usage period. “After receiving input and evaluation, Pindad’s technical team immediately conducted a thorough inspection and repair, carried out precisely and swiftly, so the vehicle could return to optimal operation according to established standards,” the company elaborated.

For context, the MV3 Garuda Limousine was developed as a fully armoured vehicle without a sunroof. However, three days before the presidential inauguration, a requirement arose to add one so the President could greet the public directly during state events. “The various feedback provided by the President and users serves as invaluable input for the company to continuously refine and innovate future products. PT Pindad is committed to delivering the nation’s best work and supporting national strategic needs through sustainable innovation and technological development. The spirit of continuous improvement is part of the company’s work culture in realising national industrial independence,” PT Pindad affirmed.
