Prabowo Reaffirms Indonesia's Non-Aligned Stance Before Eight Ambassadors, Apologises for Delayed Credentials

President Prabowo Subianto delivered a significant message regarding the direction of Indonesia’s foreign policy while receiving the presentation of credentials from eight ambassadors of friendly nations. During the occasion, Prabowo emphasised that Indonesia remains committed to the principle of a free and active foreign policy and does not hold military alliances with any nation.

This message was conveyed by Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta following the credential presentation ceremony at the Presidential Palace. According to Anis, President Prabowo utilised the meeting to explain Indonesia’s position amidst various ongoing conflicts and geopolitical dynamics currently unfolding across different regions of the world.

“The President explained to the ambassadors Indonesia’s principle in international diplomacy: that we are free and active. We do not have military alliances with any country,” Anis Matta told reporters.

Prabowo Highlighted Increasingly Complex Global Conflicts

Anis explained that President Prabowo also addressed the current state of the world, which is becoming increasingly interconnected, meaning conflicts in one region can have widespread impacts on various countries. Consequently, Indonesia maintains that the resolution of international issues must be achieved through diplomatic channels and peace, rather than the use of military force.

According to Anis, President Prabow firmly stated that a military approach to resolving conflicts would only exacerbate the situation. “Because the world is becoming much smaller, what we need now are all forms of peaceful resolutions. Any use of military force in resolving any conflict will not lead to a good outcome,” Anis quoted the President as saying.

This message serves as a reaffirmation of Indonesia’s position amidst rising geopolitical tensions in several regions, including the Middle East, which continues to be shadowed by the potential for conflict escalation.

Indonesia Promotes Peace and International Cooperation

Furthermore, Anis stated that President Prabowo emphasised the importance of fostering a spirit of cooperation and peace between nations. The Indonesian government, he noted, will continue to encourage various diplomatic efforts capable of reducing tensions and opening spaces for dialogue at the international level.
