Prabowo reaffirms commitment to eradicating hunger in Indonesia

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, while attending the 100th-anniversary thanksgiving reception of Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Gontor in Ponorogo, East Java, on Saturday, reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating hunger and poverty throughout the country.

“Therefore, I have accepted a mandate from the Indonesian people. I do not want there to be any hungry people in Indonesia,” said Prabowo, as quoted from an official broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta.

Prabowo stated that Indonesia is a fertile nation, rich in natural resources, and therefore, no segment of society should experience hunger.

“A fertile Indonesia, an Indonesia with such vast wealth, must not have any hungry people on Indonesian soil,” he remarked.

In addition to general hunger, President Prabowo also highlighted the importance of addressing child nutrition issues as the nation’s future generation.

“For that reason, I want no Indonesian children to suffer from malnutrition. They must not go to school hungry,” said Prabowo.

The President added that physical health and adequate nutrition are primary requirements for the people to work hard in building the nation. According to the Head of State, an individual cannot work hard or perform optimally if their physical condition is weak or unwell.

Furthermore, the President emphasised the determination of his entire administration to fight as hard as possible to liberate the Indonesian people from the grip of poverty.

“Therefore, I want to fight with all my might to eliminate poverty from the Indonesian soil,” said Prabowo.
