Prabowo Ready to Travel to Tehran If Agreed by Conflicting Parties
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia calls on all parties to exercise restraint, promote dialogue and diplomacy over the escalating conflict in the Middle East. Indonesia stated it is ready to facilitate talks between the United States and Iran to ease tensions in the region.
“Indonesia reiterates the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each country and resolving differences through peaceful means,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) stated in an official declaration.
Indonesia said it is ready to facilitate dialogue so that security and conducive conditions in the region can be restored. “If approved by both sides, the Indonesian President is willing to travel to Tehran for mediation,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers that the increase in tensions in the Middle East has the potential to disrupt the stability of the region as well as world peace and security, so diplomatic efforts need to continue to be promoted.
The ministry also appealed to Indonesian citizens in the affected areas to remain calm, alert, follow the directions of local authorities, and maintain communication with nearby Indonesian representatives.
Indonesia strongly regrets the failure of negotiations between the United States and Iran, which has had an impact on military escalation in the Middle East region. Indonesia calls on all sides to exercise restraint and to promote dialogue and diplomacy.
