Prabowo quotes Korean proverb: If we go together, we will go far

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto quoted a wise South Korean proverb to strengthen the commitment to friendship between the two countries in the presence of President Lee Jae Myung during a state banquet at the Presidential Blue House in Seoul on Wednesday.

“I understand there is a famous Korean proverb that goes something like this: hamkke gamyeon meolli ganda. If we go together, (we) will go far,” said President Prabowo Subianto in his speech at the luncheon, quoted from the Press, Media, and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta.

The quotation of the proverb serves as a reflection of the spirit of togetherness between Indonesia and South Korea in elevating the level of diplomatic relations.

President Prabowo assessed that the long journey towards prosperity would be more effective if undertaken together through solid partnerships.

Prabowo expressed appreciation for the extraordinary welcome from the South Korean government.

The President stated that the bilateral discussions conducted earlier had produced highly productive and strategic achievements for the future of both nations.

President Prabowo explained that the enhancement of relations to a special comprehensive strategic partnership is not merely diplomatic formality.

“The enhancement of our bilateral relations to a special comprehensive strategic partnership, along with the signing of several important agreements, reflects deep trust and a shared vision that binds our two countries,” said the President.

In addition to discussing formal cooperation, President Prabowo highlighted the similarities in historical backgrounds between Indonesia and South Korea.

Both countries are considered to have similarities because they both struggled hard to achieve independence and build the foundations of the nation from the starting point.

Prabowo praised the discipline and work ethic of the South Korean people, which he believes has enabled them to overcome various major challenges.

“We admire your achievements. We admire your discipline, your hard work, and your desire to always overcome challenges,” said President Prabowo in front of the delegates.

President Prabowo is convinced that several agreements reached during this state visit will provide real and sustainable benefits.

Emphasis on future-oriented cooperation became the main point in every discussion held at the Blue House.
