Jakarta (ANTARA) - The meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Russia, on Monday took place in a warm and highly amicable atmosphere.
In his opening remarks during the meeting, President Putin expressed appreciation for President Prabowo’s visit to Moscow.
“First of all, allow me to convey my most sincere thanks for Your Excellency accepting our invitation and visiting Moscow,” Putin stated.
In agreement, President Prabowo also expressed appreciation and thanks for the warm welcome given amid President Putin’s packed schedule.
“Amid Your Excellency’s busy schedule, Your Excellency has received me. I am very grateful,” Prabowo said.
During the meeting, the two heads of state discussed various strategic issues as well as opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, in a post on the Instagram account (@sekretariat.kabinet) on Monday, stated several points agreed upon, namely the enhancement of long-term cooperation in the energy and mineral resources sector, including oil and gas energy resilience and downstreaming.
In addition, cooperation was strengthened in the fields of education, research and technology, agriculture, and investment in various sectors, particularly industrial development in Indonesia.
Following the meeting, the agenda continued with a limited meeting in a tête-à-tête format, packaged as a lunch banquet in the Blue Hall of the Kremlin Palace.
Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Russia have been established for 76 years since they were officially opened in 1950. Over more than seven decades, the two countries have continuously maintained relations based on principles of mutual respect and shared interests.
Teddy stated that Russia’s position is also highly strategic in the global arena. In addition to being one of the UN veto-holding countries and a BRICS founder, Russia is one of the world’s great powers with the largest natural resources in the world.
“President Prabowo and President Putin were last recorded meeting in December in Moscow and have met five times in various occasions over the past year,” Teddy said.
