Prabowo pushes Pindad to improve Maung quality

President Prabowo Subianto has shared his experiences using the Maung tactical vehicle produced by state-owned enterprise PT Pindad, while simultaneously pushing for improvements in the quality of domestic automotive products. Speaking at the HIPMI XVIII National Conference in 2026, broadcast online from Jakarta on Wednesday, President Prabowo stated he continues to use the nation’s own vehicles despite a number of shortcomings that still need refining. Prabowo recounted an experience where the vehicle he was using leaked during heavy rain. “I like to sleep in the car, so one time I was sleeping in the car when suddenly, because of the heavy rain outside, I heard drip, drip, drip… I woke up, and it turned out it was leaking,” President Prabowo said. According to Prabowo, the experience was subsequently relayed to PT Pindad as evaluation material for product quality improvement. “I sent it back, as it is made by Pindad. I said, ‘Hey Pindad, please reduce the leaking,’” he stated. Besides the leak, Prabowo also experienced shaking when the vehicle was used in mountainous terrain. However, he emphasised he continues to use nationally produced vehicles as a form of support for domestic industry. “For the sake of nationalism, I still use an Indonesian car,” he asserted. Therefore, he invited the public to support the works of the nation’s children while continuing to push for quality enhancements. President Prabowo also reminded everyone of the importance of appreciating the results of the nation’s own work and struggles. “Whether it is good, whether it leaks, whether it is bumpy, that car is made by Indonesian children. It comes from our mother, Ibu Pertiwi,” he concluded.
