Prabowo pushes Pindad to improve Maung quality

President Prabowo Subianto has shared his personal experience using the Maung tactical vehicle, produced by PT Pindad (Persero), while simultaneously urging improvements to the quality of domestic automotive products.

During his address at the XVIII HIPMI National Deliberation 2026, broadcast online from Jakarta on Wednesday, President Prabowo stated that he continues to use vehicles made by the nation’s own people, despite several shortcomings that still require refinement.

Prabowo recounted an incident where the vehicle experienced leakage during heavy rain. “I like to sleep in the car, so one time I was sleeping in the car, it was raining heavily outside, and suddenly… tap, tap, tap, tap… I woke up, and it turned out there was a leak,” said President Prabowo.

According to Prabowo, he subsequently relayed this experience to PT Pindad as material for product quality evaluation. “I sent it back, saying, ‘Hey Pindad, please reduce the leaks,’” he remarked.

In addition to the leakage, Prabowo also noted experiencing significant vibrations when the vehicle was driven through mountainous terrain. Nevertheless, he emphasised his continued use of nationally produced vehicles as a form of support for the domestic industry.

“For the sake of nationalism, I continue to use Indonesian cars,” he asserted.

Consequently, he invited the public to support the works of the nation’s youth while continuously pushing for quality improvements.

President Prabowo also reminded the audience of the importance of appreciating the nation’s own hard work and struggles. “Whether it is good, whether it leaks, or whether it vibrates, that car is made by the children of Indonesia. It comes from our Motherland, Ibu Pertiwi,” he concluded.
