Prabowo Pushes for Agricultural and Fisheries Downstreaming in 13 Regions
Bogor – President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised that the national downstreaming policy needs to be expanded. Downstreaming should not only focus on the energy and mineral sectors but also encompass agriculture and fisheries. This directive was conveyed during a meeting with the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, at his residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Friday (24/4/2026). In that meeting, the government has identified 13 regions that will serve as centres for the next phase of the downstreaming programme. Additionally, the government is targeting investors in several strategic sectors, ranging from waste-to-energy, mineral resources, labour-intensive industries, garments, to agriculture. Rosan expressed appreciation for President Prabowo’s guidance, which he considers crucial for accelerating downstreaming and enhancing the value added of national investments. “Thank you, Mr President @prabowo, for the guidance on accelerating downstreaming and strengthening Danantara’s priority programmes, today in Hambalang,” Rosan wrote in an Instagram post @rosanroeslani. Previously, the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) recorded investment realisation in the first quarter of 2026 at Rp 498.8 trillion, with job absorption of 706,569 people, an increase of 18.9% year-on-year. “The investment realisation achievement in the first quarter of 2026 is recorded at Rp 498.8 trillion, with job absorption reaching 706,569 people or up 18.9% year-on-year,” said Rosan on Thursday (23/4/2026). He added that this achievement equates to 24.4% of the 2026 national investment target of Rp 2,041.3 trillion.
