Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto is pushing for the acceleration of the implementation of national downstream projects at 13 sites as a strategic step to strengthen Indonesia’s economic foundations. The directive was conveyed during a limited meeting held in Hambalang, Bogor, on Friday (24/4/2026).

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya revealed that the government is preparing the development of advanced downstream projects that will soon be realised in various regions of the country.

“The next stage of the downstream programme will be built soon at 13 locations in Indonesia,” Teddy stated in his remarks.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM, who also serves as Head of BPI Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani. During the meeting, the government also discussed the increasing interest in investments flowing into Indonesia, particularly in strategic sectors.

According to Teddy, a number of investors have shown interest in investing in various fields, from processing waste into energy (waste to energy), the mineral resources sector, to agriculture, labour-intensive industries, and garments.

President Prabowo, Teddy continued, emphasised that downstream policies should not be limited solely to the energy and mineral sectors. He wants a broader approach so that economic value added can be directly felt by the community.

“President Prabowo wants downstream not only in the energy and mineral fields but also to be expanded in agriculture and fisheries,” he explained.

This step is seen as part of the government’s efforts to drive national industrial transformation, while also increasing economic competitiveness through processing domestic resources into high-value-added products.
