Danantara and Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, the Russian Direct Investment Fund, can move from identifying possibilities toward financing bankable projects,Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has encouraged strengthened investment cooperation between Indonesia and Russia through sovereign wealth fund Danantara and the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

In a speech at the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday, Prabowo said Danantara, Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund with about US$1 trillion in managed assets, could serve as a bridge between the two countries’ capital markets.

“Danantara can act as a bridge where the Russian and Indonesian capital markets, as well as strategic goals, can meet,” Prabowo said, as monitored via live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel heheteon Thursday.

According to him, cooperation between Danantara and RDIF needs to be taken further, moving from merely identifying investment opportunities to financing commercially viable projects.

“Danantara and Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, the Russian Direct Investment Fund, can move from identifying possibilities toward financing bankable projects,” he said.

Prabowo stressed that every cooperation agreement announced must have clear and measurable targets. He asked that every agreement detail achievement milestones, financing schemes, and project implementation stages.

With this scheme, Indonesia-Russia investment cooperation is expected not to stop at the exploratory stage, but to be realized in concrete projects with clear financing and implementation targets.

Prabowo’s presence in Vladivostok was part of efforts to strengthen Indonesia-Russia relations, which have developed across various fields.

Prabowo previously attended the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in 2025 as a guest of honor. His participation in this year’s EEF marked the continuation of Indonesia’s engagement with the international economic forum.

The President’s visit to Vladivostok was also a momentum to expand Indonesia-Russia cooperation, especially in the economic, trade, investment, and other potential sectors.
