Jakarta (ANTARA) — President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed the government's commitment to undertaking capital market reforms to strengthen global investor confidence in Indonesia.

The statement emerged during a meeting between the President and a number of international investors, as conveyed by Danantara Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Pandu Sjahrir in Washington DC, United States, on Friday (20/2) local time.

Pandu said the meeting was attended by many major investors from Los Angeles, New York, London, and several European countries. The investors held intensive discussions with the President for approximately two hours.

"We discussed the reforms being carried out in the capital market," said Pandu.

According to Pandu, investors consider the capital market to play a crucial role in boosting confidence in Indonesia's economic prospects.

During the discussion, President Prabowo emphasised the importance of strengthening the legal system and legal certainty as the primary foundation of reform.

Both points, Pandu said, received broad appreciation from investors. He also noted that investors regard legal certainty as a key factor in driving long-term investment flows.

"There was much talk of confidence building, and they [the investors] greatly appreciated the language the President emphasised regarding the strengthening of the legal system and certainty of the legal system," Pandu explained.

Additionally, the establishment of the BPI Danantara sovereign wealth fund, initiated by President Prabowo, also received a positive response. Global investors are said to be accustomed to partnering with various sovereign wealth funds around the world, and thus view Danantara as a potential strategic partner in Indonesia.

He added that a number of investors expressed interest in beginning to invest through partnership schemes, with Danantara serving as one of the entry points for investment into Indonesia.
