Prabowo Proud of Indonesia's Highest-Ever Rice and Corn Production
President Prabowo Subianto has stated that one of his administration’s achievements over the past year and eight months is food self-sufficiency, noting that production of corn and rice is the highest in the country’s history.
He made the remarks while attending the 17th National Farmers and Fishermen’s Week (PENAS) in Gorontalo Regency on Wednesday (24/6/2026).
“In one year and eight months, perhaps we have achieved a great deal. The greatest achievement, and I am grateful for it, is that we have achieved food self-sufficiency. We produce food—rice, corn, almost all food commodities we produce,” he said.
“And our rice and corn production is the highest since our nation was founded,” he added.
Prabowo expressed his appreciation to all farmers and fishers, as well as to key officials such as Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, and their deputies.
He also thanked the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and the service chiefs. According to the President, they have also contributed to helping Indonesia achieve food self-sufficiency.
“Only in Indonesia do the police manage agriculture. Only in Indonesia are soldiers often found in the rice fields. Only in Indonesia does the navy plant soybeans. Only in Indonesia does the air force plant sugar cane. But this is strategic, this is why Indonesia will rise mightily, brothers and sisters,” he said.
On that occasion, Prabowo also hinted at parties who do not want Indonesia to rise, although he declined to specify who they were.
“There are always those who do not want us to rise. We already know who they are, right?” he remarked.
