Prabowo Proposes M. Sarjito as OJK Commissioner for Mineral Exchange Oversight

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo has proposed M. Sarjito as Chief Executive of Mineral and Strategic Commodities Exchange (BMKS) Supervision, concurrently as a member of the Board of Commissioners (ADK) of the Financial Services Authority (OJK). This was conveyed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Puan Maharani, following the second DPR Plenary Session.

Sarjito’s nomination as a new OJK Commissioner is set out in a presidential letter concerning the Chief Executive of BMKS Supervision concurrently as OJK Commissioner, as well as Deputy Governor and Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI), all of whom will undergo a fit and proper test. According to Puan, the DPR has tasked Commission XI to carry out the process.

“The mechanism related to the selection or approval process for the Deputy Governor, as I mentioned earlier, will be processed from today in accordance with the mechanism in Commission XI, as well as for the OJK,” Puan said at the DPR RI Building on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

She continued, “The OJK will also be processed according to the mechanism in Commission XI. We have assigned Commission XI; his name is Mr M. Sarjito. Mr M. Sarjito will be processed according to the mechanism in Commission XI.”

Previously, Prabowo had announced plans to establish the BMKS. Under OJK supervision, the BMKS is targeted to be operational by 1 January 2027.

Chair of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, said that the detailed implementation of the Mineral and Strategic Commodities Exchange will be regulated through a Presidential Regulation (Perpres).

This Perpres will later regulate the types of commodities and other details.

From the OJK side, she said the authority is also preparing an OJK Regulation (POJK) on its governance, transition phases, and human resources.

“We have indeed held very intensive discussions, the OJK with BIM (Mineral Industry Agency) and also with Danantara regarding the preparation stages for the BMKS,” she said during a press conference on the 2027 State Budget Plan and Financial Note at the Directorate General of Taxes Building, Jakarta, Friday (14/8/2026).
