Prabowo Promises NU Pesantren and Schools Four Interactive Panel Screens

President Prabowo Subianto has promised to provide interactive panel screen assistance to schools and pesantren under the auspices of Nahdlatul Ulama, with four units per classroom at once.

Prabowo began by offering a direct apology to Nahdlatul Ulama because many schools and pesantren under the Islamic organisation had not yet received the interactive panel screen assistance.

“I would like to apologise to Nahdlatul Ulama. I apologise, because I have only just learned that many schools and pesantren of Nahdlatul Ulama have not yet received the interactive panel screens,” Prabowo said while opening the 35th NU Congress at Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Tambak Beras, Jombang, East Java, on Wednesday (28/6).

Prabowo explained that the delay in distributing the digital education tools was purely due to administrative issues between ministries. He also defended the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, stating that the delay was not the fault of that ministry.

“This is within the administrative scope of the Minister of Education, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education. He is not at fault because the ministry handles state schools,” he said.

According to Prabowo, the management of schools and madrasahs under NU falls within the remit of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, so the distribution of the technological devices must involve the ministry responsible for religious education.

“Schools under NU are managed by the Minister of Religious Affairs, correct,” Prabowo said.

Despite the delay, Prabowo assured that all classrooms in NU schools and pesantren would not be discriminated against and would receive the same facilities as state schools.

“There is no problem even though it is late. All classrooms in NU schools will receive interactive screens, the same as all state schools,” Prabowo said.

As a form of compensation for the delay, the government will provide the interactive screens in a lump sum. While state schools received the facilities gradually, NU schools will immediately receive four screens at once per classroom.

“Last year all state schools received one screen per classroom. This year all state schools will receive an additional three, but NU will soon receive four at once,” he said.

Prabowo described the move to provide four screens at once as a fulfilment of the government’s commitment to the nahdliyin community.

“So my debt to NU has been somewhat fulfilled,” he concluded.
