Prabowo Promises Daycare for Workers' Children in Industrial Areas

JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has promised to create childcare facilities or daycares for the children of workers. Prabowo emphasised this after hearing requests from labour representatives at the 2026 May Day or Labour Day event at Monas, Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026). “Earlier, it was mentioned that workers need childcare places, daycares. This is a good suggestion. We will fight for this,” Prabowo said in front of the workers. “We will implement this as soon as possible, brothers and sisters,” Prabowo continued. At the same moment, Prabowo had previously heard aspirations from the Chairman of the Confederation of United Workers, Ilhamsyah, regarding daycares in industrial areas. Because, according to Ilhamsyah, many workers are confused and in a dilemma because there is no one to look after their children. “We hope the state is present to create daycares in industrial areas, in workers’ settlements, so that workers’ children can live decently, so that workers’ children can grow and develop well,” he said in front of the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
