Prabowo: Prambanan Temple Proof of Indonesia-India Civilisational Ties Spanning Over 1,000 Years
President Prabowo Subianto expressed his appreciation for the joint visit with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Prambanan Temple. Prabowo described the moment as very special. “Today I had the opportunity to accompany His Excellency the Prime Minister of India to visit Prambanan Temple, one of the masterpieces of world civilisation and a cultural heritage that is a source of pride not only for the Indonesian nation but also for the world. This visit holds a very special meaning,” Prabowo said at the Prambanan Temple complex in Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta, on Wednesday (8/7/2026). Prabowo stated that Prambanan Temple is not only a symbol of the glory of Indonesian history and culture but also a reminder and proof of civilisational ties between Indonesia and India that have been established for more than a thousand years. “Prambanan Temple is not only a symbol of the glory of Indonesian history and culture, but also a reminder and proof of the civilisational relationship between Indonesia and India that has been established for more than 1,000 years,” he said. Prabowo explained that this commitment also serves as evidence that the relationship between the two nations is not solely built on political, economic, and defence cooperation, but is also deeply rooted in cultural and scientific values. He also thanked Prime Minister Modi for the realisation of cooperation on the conservation and restoration of Prambanan Temple. “On behalf of the government and people of Indonesia, I extend my highest gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this state visit. I hope the friendship between Indonesia and India grows ever stronger, closer, and continues to produce tangible and mutually beneficial cooperation for both countries and their people,” Prabowo concluded.
