Prabowo Praises the National Police Chief: From Clean Governance to Food Security Innovation
Prabowo expressed his appreciation during the Simultaneous Mass Corn Harvest and Groundbreaking Ceremony for 10 National Police Food Security Warehouses, held in Tuban, East Java, on Saturday (May 16, 2026). Prabowo began by praising the leadership of the National Police Chief, which he considered successful.
“I see that Mr. Listyo Sigit has been successful, right? How can I say it? I want to say something. I think MBG (Management Based Governance) is great, very clean and orderly. This isn’t just me praising; I’m not one to easily give awards. But I want to be objective,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo admitted that he had attended the mass corn harvest event with the National Police three times. According to him, each event always showcases new innovations in the food and energy sectors.
“I’m happy, not pretending to be. I’m relieved because, why? Because the world is facing an energy crisis, and countries are panicking. But now I’ve been told, ‘Sir, don’t worry, we can make charcoal briquettes from corn cobs.’ Wow. That’s amazing,” he said.
“Previously, those cobs were thrown away, right? Now they can be a source of energy. Amazing. Thank you, National Police Chief. Thank you, the Police. The Indonesian Police,” he added.
According to him, the National Police has proven its capabilities. Prabowo also said he was proud that Indonesia has innovative sons and daughters.
“That’s why you know, this is extraordinary. Sorry, charcoal briquettes from corn cobs, this is a miracle, I agree,” he said.
Prabowo also highlighted the development of coal-based fertilizers. He said this innovation was also a miracle.
“Earlier, there were also fertilizers made from coal. This is also amazing. In my opinion, this is also a miracle. We can make low-calorie fertilizers; we can use low-calorie coal to make fertilizer. Amazing,” he said.
Analogy of a Football Team and Contract Extension
President Prabowo Subianto said he was proud to see the achievements of the National Police. Prabowo believes that every success achieved by the National Police is inseparable from its leader, namely General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
“I see the role of the National Police is extraordinary. And here, I think it’s because of leadership. If it’s good, we have to admit it’s good; if it’s good, we admit it’s good, and in an organization, if the organization is good, it means the leader is good, right?” said Prabowo.
Prabowo then likened it to a football team, where the coach’s contract is continuously extended because he can manage the team well and achieve victory in every match. He also gave the example of the Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, who successfully achieved food self-sufficiency and was awarded the Bintang Jasa Utama (Star of Merit) by Prabowo.
Prabowo then said that the National Police has also achieved success. He said he would give the Bintang Mahaputra (Star of Great Service) to the National Police Chief.
“It turns out I see that the National Police is successful, very successful. Has the National Police Chief ever received the Bintang Mahaputra? Not yet, right? Later, President Prabowo will give the star,” he said.
“What about the TNI Commander? Has he received it either? President Prabowo wants to give it,” he added.
According to him, if a leader of a state institution succeeds in carrying out his duties, then it needs to be appreciated. He also said that several years ago, if a battalion won a war, its commander was given an award.
“So, that’s what you call the law of the state, the law of the organization. If successful, the commander is good. In battles, in history, there are many stories, including Indonesian history. During the war, battalions had numbers. But back then, it was famous for its commanders. Sarwo Edhie Battalion, Sarwo Edhie Company, Ahmad Yani Battalion, Kemal Idris Battalion. That’s how it was back then. If successful. If not successful, they were removed,” he said. (knv/gbr)
