Prabowo praises Quraish Shihab's sermon on peace at Nuzulul Quran commemoration
Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto expressed appreciation for the message delivered by Islamic scholar Quraish Shihab regarding the fundamental meaning of peace, presented at the State-Level Nuzulul Quran Commemoration for the year 1447 Hijri/2026 CE at the State Palace on Tuesday evening.
“Prof. Quraish Shihab has just delivered a brief sermon to us and provided insights into fundamental matters. The meaning of peace, the meaning of harmony, the meaning of reconciliation, can also show us that differences are not something that must lead to division,” Prabowo said during his remarks at the event.
Prabowo was impressed by Quraish’s explanation regarding justice and the meaning of leadership as a trust entrusted by the people.
The President viewed leadership as both destiny and an assignment given by Almighty God to uphold truth, justice, and honesty.
“I am increasingly aware that leadership is destiny and power derives from the Almighty, and power is given as an assignment to defend truth, justice, and honesty,” he stated.
Prabowo also emphasised that power must be used to protect society and bring prosperity and justice to all Indonesian citizens.
On this occasion, Prabowo invited all members of society to use the Nuzulul Quran commemoration as a moment to understand and internalise the teachings of the Quran in daily life.
According to him, the messages conveyed in the sermon are highly relevant amid a world full of uncertainty and various conflicts.
Therefore, Prabowo stressed the importance of strengthening national unity and harmony so that Indonesia can face various global challenges.
He also reminded that ultimately truth will prevail if accompanied by strong determination and commitment.
“We as an Indonesian nation, along with many other nations, need to forge unity amongst ourselves, foster harmony amongst ourselves, to face circumstances full of uncertainty, to face circumstances full of danger,” Prabowo concluded.
