Prabowo Praises Police: Zero Terrorism Incidents in Recent Years a Major Achievement

President Prabowo Subianto has praised the achievements and successes of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in recent years, notably the absence of any terrorism incidents. He made the remarks at the peak celebration of the 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary at the Brimob Training Centre in Cikeas, Bogor, on Wednesday, 1 July 2026. “I appreciate the success of Polri, together with other institutions, in maintaining zero terrorism incidents in recent years. This is an achievement we need to value,” Prabowo said. The President also commended Polri for uncovering thousands of narcotics cases and eradicating online gambling in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs. Despite this, Prabowo urged the police not to become complacent, as Indonesia still faces significant challenges. “Our people still suffer from poverty, and this poverty is a direct result of corruption, smuggling, and illegal economic activities. Therefore, your challenges, our challenges, are still great and many,” he explained. The peak celebration of the 80th Bhayangkara Anniversary was attended by several national figures, including 7th President Joko Widodo and 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla. A number of ministers from the Red and White Cabinet were also present, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono. Attorney General ST Burhanuddin and Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani were also in attendance.
