Prabowo Praises Police Role in Food Security and Free Nutritious Meals Programme
President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his appreciation for the Indonesian National Police (Polri), noting the institution’s increasingly active role in supporting various strategic government programmes, ranging from strengthening food security to ensuring the success of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Programme, as well as assisting communities in border areas and disaster-affected regions. The statement was made during his address at the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration ceremony in Bogor Regency on Wednesday. According to the Head of State, Polri is no longer solely carrying out security and public order functions but is also directly involved in efforts to improve public welfare. “I convey my utmost appreciation for how actively the Indonesian National Police are now involved in our people’s food security efforts. Polri is always on the front line when communities experience disasters, and Polri continues to help maintain price stability across the Republic of Indonesia,” Prabowo said. He added that the involvement of Polri is also evident in the implementation of various priority government programmes. Police personnel are present in villages and border areas, and actively support the execution of the MBG Programme. The President stated that he has personally witnessed Polri’s contribution to strengthening national food security, particularly through increased maize production. In addition, Polri has built food warehouses of very good quality to support the storage of agricultural produce. Furthermore, Prabowo highlighted Polri’s role in constructing more than a thousand Nutritional Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), or kitchens, to support the MBG Programme. “I do not hesitate to say here that the kitchens built by Polri are the best. And this is not just my opinion; many observers and reviewers from international institutions who came to Indonesia saw these kitchens, and most of the ones they inspected were the kitchens built by Polri,” he stated. Beyond food security and nutrition programmes, Prabowo noted that Polri continues to build boreholes for water, bridges, and provide assistance to communities affected by disasters. He said this involvement demonstrates Polri’s commitment to serving the public across various sectors. The Head of State expressed his hope that this spirit of dedication will be maintained and strengthened so that Polri is increasingly felt by the community and is able to support the success of various national development programmes.
