President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Indonesian National Police (Polri) for their active involvement in supporting national food security efforts. He noted that beyond combating crime, the police force has consistently been on the front lines during disasters and has helped maintain price stability across the Republic of Indonesia. “Police figures are active in all state sectors. Polri actively and decisively supports strategic programmes such as the free nutritious meal initiative. Polri is present in villages, Polri is present at the borders,” he said during the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration ceremony in 2026 at the Brimob Polri Training Centre in Cikeas, Bogor, on Wednesday. Prabowo stated he had witnessed firsthand how the police’s food security programme significantly aids national food resilience, particularly in corn production. “I saw for myself Polri building much-needed food warehouses of excellent quality. Polri has also actively built more than 1,000 Nutritional Fulfilment Service Units, or kitchens, for the Free Nutritious Meal programme,” he said. He expressed no hesitation in presenting evidence of the police’s performance in supporting the programme, asserting that the kitchens built by Polri are the best. “And this is not just my word; many observers and reviewers from world institutions who came to Indonesia saw these kitchens, and most of the ones they viewed were Polri kitchens,” he revealed. Beyond food security, the police have also continued to construct boreholes for water, bridges, and assist communities affected by disasters. Reflecting on this performance, Prabowo stressed that security does not merely mean the absence of crime. The aspect of security, he said, is quite broad, including the security for Indonesians to learn and work. “Security means the people are free to work, farmers dare to plant, fishermen dare to go to sea, entrepreneurs dare to invest, teachers teach calmly, children learn calmly, and the public can worship peacefully according to their respective religions and beliefs in a harmonious atmosphere, in an atmosphere full of tolerance,” he asserted.
