Prabowo Praises National Police Kitchen During Inspection: Rice is Comparable to Japanese Restaurants
The praise was delivered during President Prabowo’s briefing at a consolidation meeting for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme held at the Sentul International Convention Centre (SICC), Bogor Regency, West Java, on Wednesday (3/6/2026).
“Yesterday, Tony Robbins and I ate at one of the schools. This is one of the best kitchens,” said Prabowo.
Prabeway’s inspection, accompanied by American motivational speaker and entrepreneur Tony Robbins, took place at SMPN 111 Jakarta on Tuesday (2/6) morning. During the visit, Prabowo personally sampled the MBG menu alongside the students.
“I ate, and I must admit, because this is… what do you call it, the National Police kitchen, it is quite good. Why are you laughing? Well, it is good, isn’t it?” Prabowo added.
Prabowo joked that the delicious meal might have been specially prepared in anticipation of his arrival. He remarked that the soft, fluffy rice served was comparable to that of a Japanese restaurant.
“The rice is delicious, very fluffy. I suspect this was prepared specifically because they received word the President was coming. I suggest the Head of BIN (State Intelligence Agency) conduct an investigation. Next time, do not tell them I am coming. The rice is delicious. I admit, it is as good as a Japanese restaurant,” he said.
Furthermore, he praised the ‘tempe orek’ (sweet and spicy tempeh) served, jokingly noting that the portion size was insufficient. “The tempe orek was very delicious. It was just not enough. But it is okay; these are junior high students, whereas I would eat much more,” Prabowo remarked.
“The vegetables were also good—pumpkin mixed with corn. Although, the portion was also a bit small. Mr. Tony and I were eating, and since he is a large man, I think to himself, ‘Oh, I feel sorry for these Indonesian children,’” he added, prompting laughter from the audience.
