Prabowo Praises National Police Chief: Deserving of Top Post Due to Achievement and Service

President Prabowo Subianto has openly praised the track records of Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak and National Police Chief (Kapolri) General Polisi Listyo Sigit Prabowo. According to Prabowo, the top positions now held by both men are the fruit of achievement, service, and capability.

Prabowo revealed that he has been monitoring various initiatives undertaken by the TNI ranks since his time as Minister of Defence. One figure he mentioned was Maruli Simanjuntak. “I have been monitoring for years, since I was Minister of Defence, the initiatives carried out by all of you,” Prabowo said during a virtual address at the inauguration of the Merah Putih Presisi Bridge and clean water sources on Thursday, 13 August 2026.

Prabowo then specifically touched on Maruli’s journey before he was entrusted with the role of Army Chief of Staff. He noted observing various positive initiatives taken by Maruli even before he held the highest office within the Indonesian Army. “General Maruli, before becoming Army Chief of Staff, before holding the highest office in the Army, I monitored you taking good initiatives,” Prabowo stated.

According to Prabowo, the work and service of a soldier never truly escape public attention. He reminded all TNI-Polri personnel that every positive action will be recorded and remembered by the people. “Ladies and gentlemen, even though you may not feel it, all good deeds, all good service by individuals, by officials, by leaders, are actually monitored, observed, recorded, and remembered by the people. Remember that,” he stressed.

For Prabowo, this track record is one of the reasons why Maruli deserves to be trusted with the highest position in the Indonesian Army. He assessed that the position is the result of the work and service that has been rendered. “Because of that, I also believe that a soldier like Maruli Simanjuntak becoming the highest-ranking officer in the Army is fitting, based on the results of his work and service,” Prabowo said.

Not only Maruli, Prabowo also gave a positive assessment of National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The President stated that the highest position in the Police institution, now held by Listyo, is also fittingly achieved based on his record of achievement.
