Prabowo Praises 'Miracle Carbon' Corn Cob Charcoal Innovation by Indonesian Police
President Prabowo Subianto has praised the ‘Miracle Carbon’ innovation developed by the Indonesian National Police (Polri), which successfully converts corn cob waste into briquettes or charcoal. This innovation represents a significant achievement amidst the ongoing energy crisis.
“Sir, stay calm. We can produce charcoal briquettes from corn cobs.” This is truly extraordinary! Previously, these cobs were discarded, but now they can serve as an energy source. It is wonderful. My thanks to the Chief of National Police and the Indonesian Police. The Indonesian Police are often criticised; there are constant calls for reform. However, you have now proven your worth,” stated Prabowo during the Simultaneous Corn Harvest and Groundbreaking of 10 National Police Food Security Warehouses, as reported on Monday (18/05/2026).
Prabowo noted that this is a strategic achievement, particularly in the context of the current global energy crisis. On this occasion, he also expressed appreciation for the development of fertiliser made from low-calorie coal, which is deemed capable of strengthening independence within the national agricultural sector.
“The coal-based fertiliser is also extraordinary. In my view, this is a miracle. Using low-calorie coal to produce fertiliser. We can mix this with the NPK fertiliser we usually use,” said Prabula.
He expressed his hope that the ‘Koperasi Merah Putih’ (Red and White Cooperative) could distribute both the corn cob charcoal briquettes and the coal-based fertiliser. However, he emphasised that the key to such innovations is to provide essential materials to the people at the lowest possible prices to increase purchasing power and improve livelihoods.
